"To All Owners of these delightful H Body, underpowered critters:
I once owned a Diesel powered (?) LeSharo which, after experiencing several warning signs that I was about to have major problems, I took it to S~works RV Inc. in Bozeman, MT and let them do their 3.8L Conversion. I now have over 5000 miles on the modified unit including many, many mountains and 3000 miles of Alaskan roads, so I think I can talk with some considerable authority when I say that this is the best combination of motor home-engine combination on the road today. I get 18 - 19 mpg on trips where I am not pushing it. It has so much available power that you would be hard pressed to overwork it. And, I found the people at S~works RV Inc. do very professional work, are truthful and honest and just a fine bunch of people to do business with. I use my RV all year - it is 230 miles to the store or doctor and we seem to end up going twice a month.

Hello WJ Fester,
I think that prudence may be the better part of valor. Feel free to contact me if I can be of further assistance. Incidentally, the conversion job by S~works not only performs like you would expect from a professional organization, it looks professional, and they make you a nice owner's manual that includes a very complete parts list with cross references to Chrysler, Renault and NAPA where applicable, and to S~works RV Inc. manufactured parts for the few that are special.

Bob,
My wife and I had had an opportunity to look over an S~works V-6 conversion. The V6 is so neatly installed that it would be hard to find any thing that makes it "appear" to be a conversion. The V6 looks like it was designed to be there from the manufacture. As a former hotrodder and sports car enthusiast, I have seen some very good conversions -this is among the best.

The vehicle drove like a newer vintage mini-van. Within minutes, you forget you are driving a motor home. The engine and drive train are matched and designed to perform smoothly in Chrysler's top-of-the-line sedans. Power is delivered smoothly, the transmission shifts precisely, and is often unnoticed. I was concerned that the drive train might be strained by the weight of the coach. The 230HP pulled the coach easily and without any sign of being overloaded. We caught ourselves going 89mph without a shake or noise. The engine installation was clean and professional. All the bolts were where they were suppose to be. Greg and the Sworks crew worked very hard to make sure there were no fluid leaks. It's really a culture shock to realize you do not have to put pans under the machine to catch dripping oil in the garage. After 2200 miles, no leaks or drips. Period.

I have driven to Victoria, BC and to and from Bozeman, MT where I had Greg do the V6 conversion. I am very pleased with the results Greg and his Sworks RV crew do a beautiful job!!! Support is second to none. The only problem with the conversion is that now I hear all of the rattles from the inside of the coach; the engine and the transmission are quiet, even the fans cannot be heard.

My coach was a gas 2.2/auto, it is now a gas 3.3 auto after Greg and Harry and the gang finished the conversion late August. I also had the other upgrades done at the same time,(31.5 gal gas tk., fuel transfer sys., suspension upgrade and all new brakes, steering rack, bearings and ect.) My wife and I left Montana late Aug. and drove to WV (a little over 2,000 miles) I spent a couple of weeks doing little things to get ready for our trip to Alaska (we had owned the coach for 2 years, and had never used it). About the 22nd of Sep. we headed for Dawson Ck. BC and then across the Alaskan Highway to various points in Alaska. We are now back in Kansas at my daughter's house after traveling almost 10,000 miles on this trip for a total of about 12,000 miles (trip home and to Alaska) the coach preformed perfectly, handled great, 15 + mpg. average (sometimes almost 20, sometimes 14) I have not figured it exactly, but I will when I get home to WV.. the only problem I had on the whole trip, was a small crack in one of the metal lines on my steering rack which I was able to repair with the help of some awful nice people in Mt. Vernon WA. (Harry had already made me a new one, and would have shipped to me next day air if necessary) I expect the coach to last for many more trouble free miles, (based on my experience so far and just how well the coach performs). If anyone wants more info about the trip, or the conversion? just e mail me at wb8hme@aol.com. Take care!
